On February 17, 2015, General Motors publicly announced a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 34 MW from a wind farm in Mexico. Although GM already had a long history of purchasing power from solar, landfill gas, and waste-to-energy plants, this PPA marked the company’s first wind deal and helped GM exceed its 125 MW renewable energy target. The 15-year contract, which was signed with a wind farm owned by Enel Green Power, will provide GM with energy to be used at four of its Mexican facilities.
